HARDWOOD REFINISHING
As beautiful as hardwood flooring is, it doesn’t last forever. The life of your hardwood floors can be extended though by using Success Flooring’s hardwood flooring refinishing service. There are a few different options to choose from when it comes to refinishing your floor and we are here to make sure your hardwood floors get the treatment they deserve.
After time wood floors can get scratched, dinged up, stained and just worn down from everyday traffic in your house. Depending on how beat up your floor is and how much money you want to spend can determine which option is best for you. Another thing to consider is how long do you want people working on your floors. Each treatment has varying lengths to get the job done.
The first option is traditional sanding. This method normally takes a while and can get pretty messy and dusty. Sanding your hardwood floors is the best option if the finish has worn through, if there is was on top of the plastic coating or if the floor has been stained or damaged. Like screening, all furniture has to be removed from the room to make sure dust doesn’t stick around after the job is done. Some hardwood floors become easier to maintain after getting a new finish. Not all floors require this amount of work, which is why there are other options.
Dustless sanding is a newer method that eliminates most - but not all -- of the dust particles when working on the hardwood floor.
There is also a process called screening. This is a process that doesn’t remove any wood. Instead it takes off the top layer of nonpenetrating plastic coating (polyurethane). You can only do this method when the finish on the hardwood floor is worn, dull or scratched. The wood beneath the finish cannot be damaged or stained however. All furniture must be removed from the room before this process begins to make sure dust doesn’t collect on anything.
Once the floor is sanded down and the dust removed all that is left is applying a new polyurethane coating down. We recommend putting a new coat down on the floors every two years or whenever the floor looks worn to ensure a beautiful look to the hardwood floors.
Even though this may sound easy, a lot could go wrong if you aren’t familiar with the tools necessary to get the job done. Let the professionals at Success Flooring get the project done right and in a timely fashion for you.
